Mercedes-Benz has a terrific 2024 lineup of SUVs. Today, we're going to focus on the EQB and the EQE, two of the brand's newest all-electric models. On the electric performance front, the two have a lot in common. However, there are some differences to be aware of between the compact EQB and the midsize EQE. Let's take a look at the performance elements the two share before exploring their more distinct traits.
Find Intelligent Electric Performance in the EQB and EQE
Life up and down Southern Pennsylvania is very special. The air is so fresh, and the surroundings are so green that many people move to the area to escape the fumes and pollution of major cities. That's why we know East Petersburg drivers appreciate vehicles that help keep the air clean. While the EQB and EQE might have some differences (which we'll get to), their core appeal remains the same: an electric powertrain and complementary systems that help that powertrain really purr.
Both models enjoy what Mercedes-Benz calls the Eco Assist system. This intelligent system gathers information from your GPS, as well as map data, topography info, and traffic updates. With that information, the system adjusts the intensity of energy recuperation through regenerative braking and coasting to ensure maximum energy efficiency during your planned drive. Pretty cool, right? It even allows for one-pedal driving in some situations, which is not only easier on your leg during long drives but can further boost fuel economy.
Choose vehicle dynamics that match your mood or route with the DYNAMIC SELECT system found on both models. It allows you to choose from four different modes: ECO, Comfort, Sport, and Individual. ECO does what its name implies, which is to boost efficiency. Comfort provides a nice balance of smooth handling and fuel efficiency, making it good for everyday driving. Sport will get you more spirited handling for times you're feeling rambunctious. Finally, the Individual mode allows you to customize vehicle dynamics to meet your preferences and driving conditions.
The energy efficiency genius doesn't end with these features. You'll also find Intelligent Energy Recovery on both models. This system consists of paddles on your steering wheel that allow you to adjust how much your vehicle recaptures energy from deceleration and braking. There are four levels of recuperation: Strong, Normal, No, and Intelligent. When the system is set to Strong, you can use one-pedal driving. Meanwhile, No is meant for coasting situations.
Finally, you can enjoy the Mercedes-Benz 4MATIC® all-wheel drive system on both models. This system constantly monitors the road and can automatically send the appropriate amount of torque to the front or wheel wheels, depending on the situation. So when an unexpected rainstorm hits, your vehicle is ready for it.

The EQB: Pretty and Practical
With an MSRP of $53,050, the 2024 EQB 250+ comes in at significantly less than the EQE.[a] If you're looking to keep some extra cash in your account, this could be your model. But it's still a Mercedes-Benz, so you can expect top-shelf materials and a stunning interior. Mercedes-Benz simply uses more practical materials and makes some different infotainment choices that allow the EQB to be priced much lower than the EQE. You can also see from its exterior styling that it has more of a rugged stance, while the EQE has a more sleek, cosmopolitan profile.
One of the most notable differences between the two models is that the EQB can be ordered with two or three rows, providing seating for either five or seven passengers. If you do need seating for up to seven, this is not an option in the EQE. Because of its three-row option, the EQB has a generous cargo capacity of up to 61.8 cu.ft. when it is configured as a two-row model.
The EQB gets you a couple of wheel options, including 19-inch AMG five-spoke wheels with black accents and 20-inch AMG multispoke wheels in black. On the inside, you also have a couple of wood trim options, including natural grain black linden wood or natural grain brown linden wood. Plus, you can opt for an illuminated star pattern trim. You can also add brushed stainless steel pedals for a sportier look.
On the infotainment front, you'll enjoy a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch touchscreen multimedia display. In the overall SUV market, these are very competitive touchscreen sizes, and they offer crisp displays and fast responsiveness.
The EQE: Poise and Power
The 2024 EQE has an MSRP of $77,900 and a distinctly more sleek, rounded silhouette than the EQB.[a] It is longer than the EQB by roughly half a foot, giving it a more imposing profile. However, although it has more interior space for second-row passengers than the EQB, there is no optional third-row. The lower roofline also means you will see a dip in cargo capacity compared to the EQB, with a maximum of 55 cu.ft. Still, if you're looking for spacious seating for five with generous legroom for rear-seat passengers, the EQE has you covered.
We mentioned earlier that the higher price tag is partially due to some more advanced infotainment and tech features. While the EQB has dual 10.25-inch screens, the EQE jumps up to a 12.8-inch OLED touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, giving you approximately four extra inches of graphics and data. The higher-trim EQE 500 comes with the even more impressive Hyperscreen, which has a single 56-inch glass surface that includes a 12.3-inch driver display, a 17.7-inch center infotainment display, and a 12.3-inch passenger display.
On the design front, the EQE comes with more available choices than the EQB. There is a total of six wheel design options, along with several trim and paneling options inside. With choices like a backlit laser-cut star pattern, natural grain magnolia wood with a star pattern, and a natural grain yacht-design Norway Maple wood, there are so many ways to create the atmosphere you desire.
